[It is Loog who appears one day at Seteth's door. There is a letter in his mouth, old and crumbled and looking worse for wear. Upon taking the letter and opening it, it is clear this was a draft for something that Dimitri maybe changed his mind on sending. Many words are crossed off and splotches of ink decorate the worn papers edges.]
Dear Seteth Professor Seteth,
While we did not know each other well As your student for a short time You are one of the only holy men I know and I was wondering if I could ask for your assistance in a ceremony.
Felix and IMy dear heart I proposed to Felix and by some sheer chance he wishes to be tied to me. I know I do not deserve him, Felix can do much better than I but I love him and he is the only one who see me as I am, not as another or other.
I know you have no ties to me other than I being of the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus and once a student of yours though short lived, but I beg you not for myself but for him to please wed us.
All I wish is to give Felix the proper ceremony he deserves. Would if I could bring his family here for it but...
I do wish for it to be kept private. Weddings in this land are extreme and I don't wish to subjugate him to something like it. I have nothing much to offer, here I am nothing but a king of nothing. Whatever you might need I will give it freely in return.
[What a strange way to receive a message, in a land where instant communication is the norm. Seteth welcomes Loog inside and smoothes the crumpled page out, stroking the lion's mane (much to the dogs' jealousy) as he reads. It's clumsy, unsure, and altogether charming; he may not have shared much time with Dimitri--in his own world, on the island, or here, for that matter--as of yet, but clearly this Dimitri feels it far more strongly than the other. This one had never truly gotten a chance to know him at all, while the other..... he had known a Seteth, at least, if not him in particular.
He asks Loog to wait just a little while longer, to give him a letter to carry back--this one written in a neat, practiced hand, and sealed with the Church's symbol pressed into a few drops of wax. He'd never thought he would have cause to use his signet ring in a place like this.....]
Dear Dimitri,
Allow me to congratulate you both on your union. Having seen the bond you share, I have no doubt that you will give each other happiness for a long time to come.
As a representative of the Church of Seiros, and as a friend, I would be most pleased to officiate a private wedding for you. Whenever you would like to meet to discuss the details of the ceremony, I will await your call.
[It is a day before Dimitri replies and it's with a text instead of another letter this time.]
That was an incomplete letter sent without my consent. I apologize. It is true I do wish to be wed to Felix, but after what has happened I doubt anything should or can be done.
I apologize for calling on you again, but, since you knew about clothes, I thought I would take this chance to ask if you knew where one may find some swimwear? I heard there was to be a celebration, but with something of a dress code.
There's no need to apologize. Swimwear is actually considerably easier to get your hands on than anything more modest.
Far to the east beyond the grasslands, you'll find a jungle. There are a handful of cottages there, which always seem to have well-fitting swimwear available. I imagine they must actively manifest them for visitors somehow, given the heat? If that's the case, then at least in theory anything you find should be able to accommodate a tail as well.
Just bear in mind that it's a bit of a trek to get there. Finding your way through the mines takes significantly longer than just flying over the mountains.
It truly does say something, doesn't it, that "considerably easier to obtain" still involves going through a long mining network.
I do appreciate you telling me. I will have to see about packing some things for the trip, then. While troublesome, I suppose it would be good to get out of the city.
It does indeed. They're not terribly far from the exit, but I would advise against using the mines unless you have to, especially alone.
The tunnels can be somewhat treacherous, even assuming you successfully navigate them. The layout has been different every time I venture down there, and both the creatures and even the stones down there can be quite disorienting.
[Do you know what a Zubat is, Lavinia? They're tiny menaces driven by pure spite, that's what.]
They are that confusing and dangerous? With how much this place does its best to appeal, I suppose I shouldn't be surprised that there are more dangers than it would like to admit.
Thank you for the warning. I suppose I will have to think of an alternative.
There are bats that can daze and disorient you, strangely sticky stones that are near impossible to pull free from alone if you so much as brush against them, and even stones capable of altering your mood or causing hallucinations. If you're fortunate, you may stumble upon a giant mole willing to dig straight through the walls that you could follow, but their tunnels are no more permanent than any of the other paths.
I generally travel by wyvern whenever I need to reach the jungle, myself. You aren't afraid of heights, are you?
If this were a simulation meant to encourage certain things, you think it would make it easier to traverse to such a lovely vacation spot.
[Seriously, she'd expect this of back home - apparently a popular tourist attraction got under threat by a volcano and giant lava slugs - but really now.]
No, I'm not afraid of heights. Are you making an offer, Signor?
You would think so. My best guess is that the Peacekeeper thinks needing to be rescued is romantic? As far as I'm aware, nothing down there should be actually deadly.
I am. You've already seen that my wyvern can easily carry two, provided they sit close.
[Well. That certainly would make the trip easier.... And she can't say she's never wondered, since she first saw the photograph, what it would be like to ride on a creature such as that.]
If you are certain that it wouldn't be too much an intrusion into your schedule, I wouldn't mind that at all, in truth. When will you have time?
No need to worry about that. Perhaps later this evening?
[It isn't as though he has to worry about tending the bar until Rosie recovers, after all. As long as she doesn't sneak off and get herself into trouble while she's still hurt.....]
